ABOUT HOPE

Hope House is about relationships. There’s no hiding it or soft selling. Connecting you to Hope and faith in Jesus Christ is why we are here. Everyone is precious to God no matter who they are or what has happened in their lives. The simple truth is life begins when we meet Jesus and discover who he really is. That’s why we describe our vision this way, connecting real people to a real God in real life. Don’t expect us to look or sound religious. We are real people living real lives just like you and that’s not always straight forward. The amazing thing is that God is real too and loves to connect with us. We hope that this page will help you to see how you might get connected. What do we believe? That people need to connect to God through Jesus and to be filled with His Holy Spirit. We call that becoming a Christian and its so much more than just going to church. Below is a prayer you can say to help you make that connection.

You can use this prayer to connect to Jesus right now and then call us to help you discover more.

Lord Jesus, I know I have done things wrong in my thoughts, words and actions. There are so many good things I have not done. There are so many wrong things I have done. I am sorry for those wrong things and turn from everything I know to be bad. You gave your life for me on a cross. Gratefully I give my life back to you. Now I ask you to come into my life. Come in as my Saviour to clean me. Come in as my Lord to lead me. I will serve you all the remaining days of my life.

Amen

HOPE HOUSE CHURCH LEADERS

Paul and Julie Bedford lead Hope House Church along with a great team of passionate and gifted core leaders: Paul and Sue Dunning; and Neil and Jo Huddleston. They are supported by the Development and Strategy Team. We’re part of the Ground Level Network of Churches lead by Stuart and Irene Bell. The Ground Level Network exists to support and care for local churches and ministries. We are also seeking to have a growing influence for good in the nation, affecting society in any way that we can, to be prophetic, to model Word and Spirit, relationship and kingdom. The Ground Level Network is an apostolic movement networked together through regional and relational connections.

What is Alpha?

Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith, run over eleven weeks. Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation. Alpha is run all around the globe, and everyone is welcome.

First up there’s

Food

Whether it’s a group of friends gathered around a kitchen table, or a quick catch up over coffee and cake, food has a way of bringing people together. It’s no different at Alpha. The sessions start with food because it’s a great way to build community and get to know each other.

Then a

Talk

The talks are designed to engage and inspire conversation. Usually around thirty minutes long and delivered over eleven weeks. They explore the big issues around faith and unpack the basics of Christianity, addressing questions from Who is Jesus? and How can we have faith? to Why and how do I pray? and How does God guide us?

Followed by

Discussion

Probably the most important part of any Alpha: the chance to share thoughts and ideas on the topic, and simply discuss it in a small group. There’s no obligation to say anything and there’s nothing you can’t say (seriously). It’s an opportunity to hear from others and contribute your own perspective in an honest, friendly and open environment.

HOPE HOUSE CHURCH WORSHIP

Our music is contemporary with a live band and our speakers are relevant to real life, but worship is more than music. Worship is a lifestyle so here’s what else we do in the life of HHC. Hope House Church has a heart for worship and knows just how important it is. Worship is vital in communicating the Good News about Jesus and allows us to connect with God. We believe worship should be a vibrant exciting experience. We want to revolutionize the way a generation understands worship. The music team desires to cultivate an energetic atmosphere of praise as well as invite people into the freedom that comes from authentic worship.

HOPE HOUSE CHURCH KIDS CHURCH

Hope Kids is a great place for children to engage in their own specially designed programme which begins after the worship during the Sunday morning service. In Hope Kids, your children will make friends, play games, hear Bible stories, do crafts, and generally have fun! All our Hope Kids volunteers can be clearly identified in their team shirts and each is DBS checked and trained in child protection. Our children’s workers are energetic and spiritually sound people who love God’s children passionately. As well as learning great Bible stories, Hope Kids children are encouraged to experience the presence of God for themselves through prayer and worship ideal for their ages.

HOPE HOUSE CHURCH SOCIAL ACTION

Hope House has a clear identity as a growing church family of people out of which our activities can be defined and understood as we seek to carry the Good News into our local community, nation and beyond. Hope House will seek to be a growing influence for good as we grow through the planting out of local groups and  congregations, which will belong to the Hope House family of churches. Our growth will always be in the context of Matthew 28 where Jesus describes a discipleship based life style of preparation and sending.

We believe our community needs to connect with God. Through acts of kindness and service, we aim to reach real lives. We believe life is best lived with Jesus right at the centre. To help people connect with God in real life.

The best way to get a feel for the school is to see the school in action.

We are a network of Foodbanks in Barnsley who rely on food donations to feed local people in crisis.

We offer a diverse range of First Aid courses and a wide variety of Outdoor Adventurous Activities.

The Street Pastors can be found every weekend looking out for vulnerable people.

We aim to support the poorest and most vulnerable children and young people, through education, vocational training, feeding and welfare care.

HOPE believes

We believe in God the Father,

we believe in Jesus Christ,

we believe in the Holy Spirit,

and He’s given us new life.

We believe in the Crucifixion,

we believe that He conquered hell,

we believe in the resurrection,

and He’s coming back again.

We Believe.

tell me more

  • We believe that the Bible is God’s Word. It is accurate, authoritative and applicable to our everyday lives.
  • We believe in one eternal God who is the Creator of all things. He exists in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. He is totally loving and completely holy.
  • We believe that sin has separated each of us from God and His purpose for our lives.
  • We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ as both God and man is the only One who can reconcile us to God. He lived a sinless and exemplary life, died on the cross in our place, and rose again to life in victory over death and sin.
  • We believe that in order to receive forgiveness and the ‘new birth’ we must repent of our sins, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and submit to His will for our lives.
  • We believe that in order to live the holy and fruitful lives that God intends for us, we need to be baptised in water and be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit enables us to use His spiritual gifts.
  • We believe in the power and significance of the Church and the necessity of believers to meet regularly together for fellowship, prayer and the ‘breaking of bread’.
  • We believe that God has individually equipped us so that we can successfully achieve His purpose for our lives which is to worship God, fulfil our role in the Church family and serve the community in which we live and worship.
  • We believe that our eternal destination of either Heaven or hell is determined by our response to the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is coming back again as He promised.
